This two year part-time counselling practitioner qualification is intended for learners who have successfully completed counselling skills training at Level 3. It gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context. Learners will secure a student counselling placement as part of the course.

This qualification is made up of seven mandatory units:

Additional information

Candidates may progress onto a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, BSc Counselling or similar courses at other colleges and universities (please check entry requirements with course providers).

Successful completion of this course means that learners will be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service, and later (with experience and support from a supervisor) they may progress to independent practice.
