Basic Gemmology, knowledge of instruments and their uses Students from other institutions have to appear for an entrance exam to qualify for the Advanced Gemmology Course. Minimum Age 16 years and preferably with knowledge of school level science Candidates should like gemstones and have the desire to become something in life with dedication and perseverance

Gemmologists, jewellers, geology students, can do advanced gemmology if they have done basic gemmology. the course gives an intensive training in the advanced techniques of treatments done to Natural and Synthetic Gemstones. In depth knowledge of Crystallography is given to recognise gem minerals in their rough state. All seven crystal systems are taught with examples and students learn how to identify rough minerals from surface markings. Synthetic gemstones, the different methods of synthesis like growth from melt, from solution, from gel etc, How to identify synthetic gemstones from their natural counterparts, what inclusions to see, how to see and their interpretation. Organic gem materials like Amber, Ivory, Coral, Jet, Tortoise shell and Pearls are studied in this advanced Gemmology. Students can identify almost all natural and synthetic and treated as well as synthetic gemstones
