Introduction: Micro-controller 8051, its architecture, Special Function Registers, Timer operation, Different modes of timer operation, serial ports, Modes of several port operation interrupts, instruction set and assembly language programming. Architectural features of its different variants. System design based on 8051. PIC Micro-controller Series: Its architecture, instruction set and assembly language programming. Architectural features of different variants.

AVR Micro-controller Series: Its architecture, instruction set and assembly language programming. Architectural features of different variants. Advantage of using RISC Micro Controllers

System Design based on PIC and AVR Micro-controllers.

Case studies based on these Micro-controllers.

Laboratory: Assembly language programming of 8051 Micro-controller, Assembly language programming of PIC Micro-controller, Micro-controller based system design and testing, Minor Project work.
