Introduction to Visual programming and popular visual programming tools. VC++ as sample language for visual programming. Introduction to VC++ development environment-IDE, Compiler, linker.
Creation of various kinds of projects in VC++ without and with project wizard. Introduction to Object Orientation, Class? definition in C++: Aggregation Inheritance Function & Operator Overloading, Input ? Output streams, Exception handling.
Program development using Object Oriented Approach, Windows Programming basics and 16/32 bit applications Comparative View: C++ vs. VC++.
Basics of windows programming, Win API, Resource editor, Programming with MFC, Introduction to ActiveX component development using VC++.
Laboratory work: Installing Visual studio components, Get Acquaintance with the IDE, How to compile, link and debug the applications, Creation, registration and deletion of simple windows, Introduction to various control components, Creation and development of dialog boxes, Introduction to MFC usage, How to use application wizard, How to use class wizard, Introduction with document view architecture, Model and Modeless dialog windows, How to create menus and integrate with application framework, How to use resource editor for creation of icons, bitmaps, pictures, strings, How to use concept of serialization for data storage and retrieval, Introduction to ADO DB controls and how to connect application with database, How to use ActiveX components developed in VC++ or VB, How to develop DLLs and non-visual components, How to integrate application with different DLLs.
