Computer Aided Mechanical Design

CAD Overview: Introduction to use of computer in mechanical design, creation of manufacturing database. Design and analysis software for mechanical Engineering Programming for customized design.

Optimum Mechanical Design: System design approaches, Mathematical modeling of systems, Review of optimization techniques for Engineering designs- multivariable nonlinear optimization techniques. Application of CAD in optimum design of machine components. MECHANICAL SYSTEM DESIGN TOOLS: Geometric modeling, Surface design, Assembly analysis, Finite Element analysis, Mechanism design and simulation. Knowledge based Expert systems for mechanical system design.

CAE: Demonstration of use of standard CAD and CAE packages for design of mechanical elements, assemblies and mechanical systems. Types of computer aided analysis for mechanism design and simulation.

Laboratory: Use of Pro/Engineer and Pro/Mechanica software for exercises in: Design and analysis of Mechanical component design studied in subjects of MD-I and MD-II, Optimization of Mechanical design of components and assemblies, Reverse engineering tools and their use in component design, Design automation and user defined features, Advanced assembly, structural, welding, surfacing, behavior modeler and other advanced modules use and demonstration of case studies.
