B.E in Mechanical Engineering

The undergraduate programmes of the college are designed to be at par with the best in the country. The curriculum exceeds the minimum standards set by various regulatory bodies like AICTE.

The curriculum of B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) is spread into 8 semesters (4 years) with the first year being common to all the branches of engineering. The curriculum is comparable with the best in India and is as per the AICTE guidelines. The students are required to undertake a total of 60 days in-plant practical training.

The curriculum lays equal emphasis on all major fields of mechanical engineering - Design engineering, Production & Industrial engineering, and Thermal engineering. The students are taught many courses to develop a sound theoretical knowledge in the analysis and design of mechanical systems. They also learn all major production processes. They are also taught thermodynamics, thermal engineering, refrigeration and air conditioning. A number of courses in Industrial Engineering and Management related area prepare them for management of resources.

Students are given a good experience in computational techniques and latest software, computer aided design and drafting including AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, advanced manufacturing processes. A host of electives in the final year allow the students to acquire knowledge of latest areas of their interest like Finite Element Method, Computer Aided Manufacturing, etc. The project in the final year allows the students to apply their knowledge to a real life situation depending upon their interest such as design, fabrication or testing, etc.
