College has been established and managed by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Nagercoil( Kottar Diocese). Approved By Govt. of Tamilnadu Recognized by AICTE, New Delhi Affiliated to Anna University. St.Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering has been established and managed by the Roman Catholic Church known for its time-honorable tradition of imparting quality education to the society and rendering social service without discrimination.

The Mechanical Engineering course was established during the academic year 2003-04. The course aims to produce Mechanical Engineers with excellent knowledge to suit in the latest technologies. The Department has a team of eminent and highly motivated staff members specialized in different areas like Thermal Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, etc. The Laboratories are well equipped with latest equipments in order to provide the students technically sound and updated information on the current trend in the Engineering Industry in addition to the basic knowledge.
