Part - I

PAPER – I

POETRY : a) Ramayanam – (Kiskindhya Kanda Canto-30) 30 marks
b) Raghuvamsam (Canto –13 whole) As in Sanskrit Pathamala,B.U. 30marks
c) Kiratarjuniyam (Canto –I) - Do - 40 marks
Two Explanations from Raghuvamsam (Canto –13 ) & Kiratarjuniyam (Canto –I) must be written in Sanskrit Language (Marks 6+6 only)

PART –II

PAPER-II
a) Drama – Abhijnana Sakuntalam 50 marks
b) Prose- Dasakumara Caritam (Dwijopakriti)(As in Sanskrita Pathamala)– 25 marks
c) Metrics –(A general conception of Sanskrit metres and the following metres -
Anustubh, Indravajra, Upendravajra, Upajati, Rathoddhata,
Drutavilamvita, Vamsasthavila,Vasantatilaka, Malini,
Mandakranta, Sikharini, Sardulavikridita, Sragdhara,
Puspitagra and Sundari)

One Explanation & one amplification from Abhijnana Sakuntalam must be written in Sanskrit Languages.

PAPER - III

A) History of Sanskrit Literature -
Ramayana, Mahabharata, Purana, Drama, Court Epics, Historical Kavyas,
Lyrical Kavyas, Prose Literature, Tales and Fables Literature.
B) Mundakopanisad (As in Sanskrit Pathamala, B.U.). - 20 marks
C) General Grammar: - 20 marks
( Stripratyaya, Atmanepada & Parasmaipadavidhana, Namdhatu, San and Yan Pratyaya, Use of Kta and Ktavatu, Ktva, Lyap, Tumun, Namul Pratyayas, Use of comparative and Superlative and Matvarthiya Pratyayas).
D) Translation: 1) Comprehension test - 10 marks 2) From English or Bengali to Sanskrit

PART – III
Paper – IV

1) Vedic texts:
a) Agni (Rgveda – 1.1)
Aksa (Rgveda – 10.34)
Sanjana (Rgveda –10.191)
Vrsti (Atharvaveda, 4th Kanda), As in the

2) Manusamhita (7th ch. – Upto Vyasana, Sloka No. 1-53) - 20 marks
3) Alamkara (Sahityadarpana – 10th Chapter) - 24 marks
Only the definitions and illustrations excepting classifications of the following
prominent figures of speech are required:
Slesa, Upama, Rupaka, Utpreksa, Dipaka, Tulyayogita, Nidarsana,
Drstanta, Arthantaranyasa & Samasokti.
4) Kautiliya Arthasastra : - 20 marks
a) Mantradhikara
b) Sasanadhikara.
