B.A (Hons) Education

On very new and fresh grounds , Panjab University has launched a Four year integrated course leading to a degree of B.A (Hons) Education - B.Ed. The focus of the course is to prepare Headiness through rigorous , consistent and expanded grooming of students into the profession of Teaching at Elementary and Secondary School Stage.


The Basic Structure of the four year integrated course in B.A Hons (Education)-B.Ed would be divided into three components.

For first three years, the course will consist of four segments :
a) Foundation Courses in Education: Paper I and Paper II:
b) Core Subjects: These would include: Paper III: English
Paper IV Punjabi OR
History and Culture of Punjab
c) Optional Subjects: These would include: Papers V & VI :

The student is required to take up Two elective/optional subjects from the nine options listed below.

1) English 2) Hindi 3) Punjabi 4) History 5) Geography 6) Economics 7) Political Science 8) Sociology 9)Mathematics
General Practicum and Tutorial Groups (Compulsory).

General Practicum will be split into three sections:

i) School related Practicum:

This will involve activities related with school functioning / classroom teaching, specified for each semester.


ii) Life Skills Training :

This will involve training in two life skills in each semester.



* For , Learning to Know: Decision Making, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking Skills, Creative Thinking Skills.
* For learning to be : Skills of increasing Internal Locus of Control and Skills for Managing Feelings and Stress
* For Learning to Live Together : Self Management Skills, Communication Skills, Skill of Empathy, Skill of Cooperative and Team Work
* For Learning to Do (Practical skills)




iii) Tutorials:

A group of fifteen students will be associated with one teacher for tutorials.

(craft works , work experience , etc)
