Program Description

ITM´s award-winning BA (Hons) Fashion Design is a dynamic course based on project and studio work, with exceptional links to the fashion industry. It has an established international reputation for shaping creative talent capable of producing the kind of innovative, directional designs demanded by today´s fast-paced fashion world. With more than 30 years of established expertise and excellence, our course is highly respected for its combination of design innovation, technology, theory and commercial reality.

Course Focus
Our approach is to involve you directly in the modern professional fashion world and to develop your creative potential through a series of live projects. These will see you working closely with industry professionals, your fellow students, and national and international partners. Through out the course, you´ll be given individual support and direction from your tutors and module leaders, as well as benefiting from group support tutorials, feedback sessions and help with career planning.

Program curriculum
Year 1 :
You will be given a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals skills of fashion design.

* Drawing
* Illustration
* Colour
* Pattern Cutting
* Garment Construction
* Fashion Research
* You´ll also study cultural and visual influences on fashion to help with analysis and critique

Year 2 :
This year focuses on real-life, professional design practice.

* You´ll be encouraged to channel your creativity into live commercial situations, carrying out projects and collaborations with external companies based on real design briefs.
* Visits and exchanges give you a stronger awareness of the demands of modern fashion markets.
* You will choose complimentary modules like fashion management, trend prediction or fashion media.

Year 3 :
You will research and negotiate design briefs involving producing a collection or product range around a theme of your choice. You´ll also have the option to take part in a professional catwalk show in Nottingham, and at Graduate Fashion Week in London. (For students who transfer to NTU UK.)
