INTRODUCTION
Media has a great role to play in every situation that unfolds in any nation. A responsible media earns for it's country a pedestal in the League of Nations. Journalists are a crucial spoke in the wheel of responsible media. The Journalism subject is designed to prepare high calibre journalists for all kinds of media. This program takes the student through an overview of journalism to the concept of freedom of the press, function and modes of communication in the first year to introduction to jurisprudence, torts, rights, duties and constitutional laws in the second year. In the third year, students learn journalistic skills such as reporting a speech, presenting radio news, interviewing and preparing a lay-out on screen along with editing and designing. The students undergoing this program are exposed to real-life situations while gaining valuable experience during their internship in various newspapers and publications.
Assessment
Assessment is by examinations, reporting assignments and a project. The internal appraisals are based on a combination of practical assignments, internships, examinations.
Job Prospects
Successful student graduates can look forward to entering a wide range of careers in Television, Advertising, Internet, Radio, or as Communication specialists in NGO's or other Corporate Sectors.
