Welcome to the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh, website. This is a new Medical College which started with the intake of 50 students in 1991. Each year a batch of 50 students, is selected solely on the basis of merit at the Combined Entrance Test conducted by the Panjab University, gets admitted.

The nursing Personel is interchanged between various departments to have the update knowledge of each field and they are prepared for all managing eventuality and disaster.

Continuous supervision of Nursing services is maintained right from periphery level to higher levels for giving comprehensive nursing care.

At the periphery level, the Nursing Sisters supervise the Staff Nurses in their own department . They are responsible for the nursing care of each individual patient, manage the wards through proper staff deployment, continuous supply of the ward requirement and discuss the problems with concerned HOD. They are also responsible for recording, reporting, auditing and Census and act as Liaision officer with the aurthority at all levels..

The Assistant Nursing Superintendents supervise the Nursing sisters and Staff nurses. They are mediators between Nursing superintendent and the Nursing staff for managing wards and solving the problems . They are responsible for incidental and clinical teaching and provide guidance and counseling to the Nursing staff, patients and relatives too.

The Deputy Nursing Superintendent acts a Liaison officer between Nursing Superintendent and Nursing staff. She maintains the master rotation of the Nursing staff and manage the nursing administrative office records. She plans and implements staff development programmes and gives orientation to newly appointed Nursing staff.

The Nursing superintendent is a liaison officer between Medical Superintendent and HODs of other Departments and Nursing Personnel. She is responsible for the Nursing administration and provides round the clock Nursing services but maintains the hospital census, hospital records of admission of VIPs, Staff members, HIV +ve, Operation theatre records and daily census. She maintains discipline in her own department and establishes interpersonal relations with other departments
