Course programme

The Department offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering Discipline. The deapartment has adequate facilities to support these teaching activities. As computers become obsolete fast, it is necessary to continuosly upgrdae the facilities. Neverthless the B.Tech and M.Tech studentsof the department have sufficient high end computing facilities. The Department is actively involved in various Research activities and has seventeen Research Scholars in the department. The facilities are adequate to cater the needs of every Research Scholars. The department has signed MoU with IBM, Intel, Leeds Metropolitan University and others, for academic collaborative projects.

The U.G programme in Computer Engineering is perhaps the most popular programme in N.I.T.K Surathkal, with an average intake of 90 students per year. The Computer Engineering Department makes all efforts in imparting high quality education to its highly motivated students. The B.Tech programme has innovatively been designed to cater to the global demands and offers a balanced coverage of hardware and software systems. The programme includes elective courses covering thrust areas such as Distributed Systems & Computing, Parallel Architectures & high performance computing, High-Speed Networks, Designing with Network Processors and Embedded Systems.

The B.Tech. programme enjoys an enviable placement of almost 100% year after year. About 25 to 35% of the students pursue higher studies after their graduation, mostly in U.S with scholarship and even with fellowship. The UG curriculum is a blend of the conventional and the radical. It is updated regularly to keep up with the growing demands and the changing trends of the software industry.
