Electronics and communication Engineering caters to the needs of the ultra modern society. It forms a framework for the entire communication network and brings people from diverse backgrounds under its wide canopy. The department of ECE was established in the year 1993. It currently offers B.E. degree programme in ECE with a sanctioned intake of 60. The department is accredited by the National board of Accreditation of AICTE from July 2004.
The department has 6 well established laboratories with state of art facilities viz., Communication engineering Lab, RF Lab, Microwave & Optical Communication Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab, Electron Devices and Circuits Lab.
The major facilities include Antenna training systems, Optical communication training systems, Digital Signal Processors, Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, Electronic system design equipments with licensed softwares like MAT LAB, Keil-C, Code composer studio etc. Electronics and Communication Engineering
The department has consistently achieved very good university results. The department has produced several University ranks in Madras University including University first rank in the year 2004.
The programme is supplemented with industrial visits, expert lectures, in every semester, from leading universities and research institutions, inhouse seminars and workshops for the corresponding courses. The department is attached to International Professional Society IEEE and Indian IETE chapter.
The graduated students are eligible for post graduate study in Remote Sensing, Medical Electronics, Communication Systems, Computer science & Engineering , Optical Communication, Avionics, Mechatronics, VLSI design, Software Engineering, Applied Electronics etc.
Campus interviews are conducted every year by leading software and hardware companies. Several of our students are placed in leading multinational companies like Infosys, Polaris, Cognizant, Airtel, Aircel, ISRO, HCL etc.
The programme in Electronics and Communication engineering has fundamental advantage of getting opportunities to work in both design and development. Testing of hardware as well as software development, applied in almost all industrial domains like chemical process industry, Aerospace, Chip design manufacturing, Communication networking, Automobile etc. The programme also gives insight and scope for research and product development on one side and feasibility to become successful entrepreneurs on the other side.
