Major Facilities

1. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning laboratory consists of Refrigeration test rig and air conditioning rig for determining the coefficient of performance and to determine different operating parameters which helps the students to design these systems in their courses.
2.Applied Thermodynamics laboratory consists of facilities to study different aspects of thermodynamics, with the help of different models and equipments.
3.Internal Combustion Engines Laboratory is provided with modern test rigs of I.C.Enginese.g.Fiat engine test rig , single cylinder 4 stroke diesel engine test rig , single cylinder 2 stroke petrol;Engine test rig . These facilities help engineering students in the practical understanding of various performance and parameters of the engines.

Central Workshop

Central Workshop consisting of Carpentry shop, Fitting and Assembly shop, Welding shop, Machine shop, Sheet metal shop and Black Smithy shop is an important facility provided by the Department not only for teaching but also as a support for the student's projects at B.Tech. The Carpentry shop is fully equipped with wood turning machines, hand tools and work benches. The fitting and Assembly shop is provided with full complement of hand tools, work benches and surfaces plate. The welding shop is equipped with Gas welding, Spot welding, Electric Arc welding and also MIG and TIG welding sets of latest make. The Machine shop is provided with Center Lathes, Shapers , Universal Milling Machine , Drilling machine , Tapping , Bench grinders , Tool and cutter grinders, Tool maker's microscope and various other tools and tackles.

PROJECT WORK

The B.Tech programme encompasses a two semester project work with emphasis on real problems. The recent focus has been on areas like:
• Automobile Engineering
• Eco-Friendly Refrigerants
• Finite Element Analysis
• Robotics and Automation
• Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network applications
• Machine Intelligence
• Industrial Management and Product Design

Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branch of the Engineering curriculum. The Mechanical Engineering Department also stands as a feather in the cap of NGI Kanpur. There are state-of-the-art equipment and test in the Air conditioning and Refrigeration material's testing lab. Thermodynamics, IC Engines, Workshop and others It is a matter of great pride that the department has a well qualified experienced and academically strong full time faculty. They have high dedication for imparting learning and analytical skills to the students. These facts have been well acknowledged by AICTE to the institute.

Objectives

1. We are committed to provide state-of-art the educational facilities, to train and empower our students with best practical and analytical skills so that a cursory interaction with these young engineers leaves us completely assured of their ability and confidence.
2. Stress is put upon the quality of student's performance in class tests and viva-voice. Lessons and instructions are according to stringent quality controls of ISO 9001-2000.
3. The faculty members and technicians of labs are also regularly given in workshops held by various technical education bodies and institution. The students can expect complete support from this.
4. The department is well equipped with CNC lathe; Air conditioning and Refrigeration test Rigs; Universal Testing machine , Impact & Hardness Testing Machine .
