Bachelor in Civil Engineering

Department of Civil Engineering is committed to excellence and innovation in education and research. The curriculum provides students to self explore various areas in the branch of civil engineering. The opportunity for self-exploration requires careful advising to gain meaningful educational experiences and this is possible with the strong team of dedicated professors available within the department. We believe that design and team working experiences should occur at regular intervals in the curriculum, and that graduates should have appropriate "hands on" experience in laboratories and projects. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects and to pursue study or work abroad. The department strives to provide a supportive environment for its close knit but diverse community from all over India and abroad.

The objectives of the under graduate program objectives are to develop:

• Graduates to tackle professional challenges at the intersections of the built, natural and information environments.
• Successful Graduates who are recognized as innovative and adaptive leaders in academic, research, government service and private sector activity.
• Graduates who use the skills learned during their undergraduate education as leaders of their professional and social communities - problem solving; critical thinking; reasoning; written, oral and graphical communications; collaborative team-building.

The department of Civil Engineering aims at bringing state of the art new technologies available to students. A close interaction with premier institute like IISC and IIT Chennai, IIT Powai, NIT Suratkal and NIT Warangal will bridge the gap between the curriculum of VTU and premier institutes. Students have many opportunities in the classes and outside the classroom to know both the faculty and their fellow students. The department has active students' organizations that sponsor social events, peer advising, career events and community service. The student organizations participate in regional and national engineering design competitions. The design teams are excellent ways for students to become engaged with fellow students, gain engineering experience, and learn about project management.

The department is actively involved in offering consultancy services to clients in the following areas. Students are encouraged to work on live projects which gives them an edge over their contemporaries
