This three year course is designed to offer an understanding of the
content and methodology dealing with disorders of Speech and Hearing. It
is a comparatively new area of remedial treatment even in advanced
countries. In India it is gaining ground rapidly. The wide scope for
development in this progressive field make this a challenging course
leading to a satisfying professional career, with immense opportunities
for post graduate and doctoral specialization.
The main objective of Speech and Hearing course will be to provide
professional education, clinical experience and research facilities for
students and clinical services for patients with Speech and Hearing
disorders.
Students will be guided over a wide range of subjects which will include
Speech Pathology, Audiology, Psychology, Linguistics, Phonetics,
Statistics, Neurology, Otalaryngology and also Human Anatomy, Physiology,
Pathology, Medicine and Electronics with special stress on portions
related to Speech and Hearing disorders. The emphasis through out will be
on clinical and practical training.
Speech Pathology and Audiology are complimentary sciences. They are taught
together so that the graduate may choose to practice in either field and
will understand the problems and requirements of both professions i.e.
Speech Pathology and Audiology, so that he/she may be able to run a Speech
and Hearing Centre independently in the initial stages. Speech Therapy is
concerned with assessment of disorders of voice, speech and language.
Audiology is the study of Hearing Sciences and is mainly concerned with
the different methods of testing, hearing and techniques of remedial
education of the hard of hearing.

Part I -
English, Second Language - Hindi/Kannada, Any language prescribed by Bangalore
University.
Part II-
Speech Pathology, Audiology, Anatomy Physiology, Pathology, Psychology,
Electronics & Accoustics, Linguistics Phonetics & Phonology, Clinical -
