The department of Physiotherapy aspires and strives for excellence in physical therapy education by developing the intellectual and human potential of students through quality education with the use of modern and innovative techniques in order to make the students responsible and respected professionals."

Physiotherapy is that branch of Medical Science that helps to restore, maintain and promote optimal physical health. It not only helps to diagnose the extent & nature of neurological, muscoskeletal as a sports related impairment but also applies scientific management strategies to treat them. Physiotherapy is a Health Care profession concerned with the assessment, maintenance and restoration of physical functions and performance. The contribution of physiotherapy to India's Health Care System is linked inextricably to the changes that shaped our country from treating of War Amputees or Earthquake Injured to Polio Patients. The innovative therapies of the much acclaimed physiotherapy carved a niche for itself.

Course Contents

The students undergo a vigorous academic programme under which in 1st year, the subjects undertaken are basic human sciences, viz: Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, B.O.P and clinical & Social Psychology. In the 2nd year, the students are given practical as well as theoretical knowledge regarding Electrotherapy, Exercise Therapy along with other subjects viz,Microbiology, Pathology & Pharmacology.

The 3rd year gives the students full clinical orientation of Gen. Medicine, Gen. Surgery, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Psychiatry & Cardiothoracic conditions, along with Organization & Administration of Rehabilitation Units.

In the 4th & final year, the students take over vigorous Physiotherapy training regarding management of Orthopedic, Neurological, Cardiothoracic Pediatric & Surgical Conditions. Along with this, they are posted for clinical exposure at various hospitals attached to the Institute: The Institute has its own 5 successfully running O.P.D and in-house facility at Ananda Hospital, Shastri Nagar. Final Year students are supposed to submit a compulsory Research Oriented dissertations prior to starting of compulsory rotatory internship.
