Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, is offering B. Tech course in Mechanical Engineering (ME) under faculty of engineering of SRMS CET. Since its foundation in 1999 the MI department strives to graduate, mechanical engineers of highest quality and to conduct state of the art research. The MI department ensures the availability of high quality and relevant engineering education to all aspirants as per the curriculum of the university. The course prepares its graduates to pursue life-long learning, serve the profession and meet intellectual, ethical and career challenges. It also maintain a vital , state-of-the art research environment to provide its students and faculty with opportunities to create, interpret, apply and disseminate knowledge.

Mechanical Engineering covers areas such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Sciences, and Mechanical Systems while Industrial Engineering covers issues such as human factors, concurrent engineering and intelligent systems. The department emphasizes focused educational and research programs of exceptional high quality. Department faculty also collaborate with researchers at different University. The goal of our academic program in mechanical engineering is to provide students with a balance of intellectual and practical experiences that enable them to address a variety of societal needs. Our course at the undergraduate level prepares students for entry-level work as mechanical engineers, or for post graduate study in engineering or in another discipline where a fundamental engineering background constitutes a desirable foundation. Academic course work and projects are designed to endow students with the ability to apply knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering, and the capability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership and technical expertise. With a solid grounding in the principles and practice of mechanical engineering, our graduates are ready to engage in ethical approaches to engineering, with concern for society and the environment.
