Course programme

Syllabus: First year B.Pharm: Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry mainly deals with Inorganic pharmaceuticals & medicinal substances. It is a review of principles of inorganic chemistry that apply to medicinal and or pharmaceutical compounds. This gives a detailed discussion of those inorganic agents used as pharmaceutical aids and necessities or as therapeutic and diagnostic agents. Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry I is the study of carbon containing compounds. And it encompasses the structures and reactions of several millions molecule. It is important area for study and research for many reasons. Few of them are one, the structures of organic molecules are now very well understood, and new types of molecules are readily prepared by rational approaches. This ability to make new substances with predictable structures and properties is one of the most important aspects that drugs and material for industrial and biomedical application continue to require trained chemists who are interested in chemical synthesis. Secondly the essential processes of biology are chemical reaction of organic substances. To discern how life process will occur, one must understand the fundamentals of organic chemistry. Pharmaceutical organic chemistry I deal with the various reactions and their mechanisms in detail with their applications. Second year B.Pharm: Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry II includes stereochemistry, heterocyclic chemistry and chemistry of biomolecules. Subject introduces heterocyclic compounds including their synthesis and derivatives. Chemistry of carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, fats and oils are covered in detail. Third year B.Pharm: Medicinal Chemistry- Ideals with the compounds of both natural and synthetic origin. Each chapter deals with history of development of particular class of drugs, their classification, mechanism of action ,synthesis, merits and demerits of individual drugs. Final year B.Pharm: Medicinal Chemistry -II The discipline of medicinal chemistry is devoted to the discovery and development of new agents for treating diseases. Each chapter deals with many aspects of organic medicinals :how they are discovered, how they act and how they are developed into clinical agents
