Bachelors in Law

Students can pursue Bachelors in Law in the university. Prior to 1976, there was no institution in North East India imparting higher-level education in Law at the LL. M. level. The need of an institution for higher education in Law as felt by the people of this part of the country since long. The Faculty of Law took resolutions to open LL. M. in as early as 1969, but it did not materialize for want of LL. M. teachers. During the national emergency a decision was taken by the university to hand over the existing Law College to the Government of Assam and to establish a post-graduate department of Law in its place in the campus itself.
