Hospitality is the practice of being hospitable. That is, the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, with liberality and goodwill. Hospitality frequently refers to the hospitality industry, which includes hotels, restaurants, casinos, catering, resorts, membership clubs, conventions, attractions, special events, and other services for travelers and tourists. Hospitality Industry is fast growing and dynamic. The supply of quality professionals for the challenging tasks and careers in this Industry is below the demand.

Vijayalakshmi Institute of Hospitality Sciences College offers a three-year Bachelor of Hospitality Science (B. Sc. (H.S.)) Degree programme and is affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangalore. The Institute is located in the Pandeshwar Campus of Srinivas Group of Colleges, in the heart of the coastal city of Mangalore well connected by all modes of transportation.
