Textiles of India are an inimitable cultural legacy admired by the entire world. India, today has a very strong mechanized textile industry, which plays a major role in the economy. It stands second to agriculture as an income generating activity for most of the rural population. They are the raw material for apparel and made ups, hence form an intrinsic part of Apparel & Interior Design.

COURSE CONTENT
Textile Design course is an analysis of fundamental, theoretical and historical viewpoints in relation to the technological and traditional processes. It provides a broad spectrum of education in Textile, developing creativity, originality, and design application in clothing, furnishing and fashion industry.

The emphasis of the course is on the fundamentals of textile design, including fibers, color, printing and traditional textiles. The program deals with all intricacies of production from designing to finishing, marketing and retailing.
The curriculum meets the demands of industry and covers a wide range of contemporary design and commercial contexts.

FABRIC SCIENCE
This is an in-depth study of weaving, printing, embroidery and dyeing. Inputs given in finishing, quality weave and design creates a knowledge database for designers.

SURFACE ORNAMENTATION
It is a vast segment, dealing with all the existing traditional methods and modern adaptations and urges students to create a contemporary version. It practically develops skills in embroidery, patchwork, smoking, yarn craft, metal, bead and appliqué work.
