The Department of Oral & maxillofacial Surgery one of the most sophisticated department of the college, equipped with ultra modern facilities & state of the art equipment. The Department apart from exodontia and post graduate clinic has a well equipped minor operation theater for carrying all minor surgical procedure under local anesthesia and a major operation theater were all the surgical procedure under general anesthesia are carried out. The major operation theater apart from other essential equipments has a C.C.D. camera with audio system mounted in the operation theater light through which students not only watch the operative procedure sitting in the seminar room, but may converse with operating surgeons though two way sound system should they have any query. The air-condition post operative room adjacent to the major operation theater is as good as surgical Intensive care unit of any good hospital. The in-patient ward in the department has a capacity of 20 beds and is maintained round the clock, by nursing staff and junior residents who are on duty under direct supervision of senior faculty. Apart from routine extractions and variety of minor surgical procedures the department carries out following surgeries for:

1. Maxillofacial trauma
2. Tumors
3. Oral cancers
4. Pre cancerous (white and red) lesion of mouth
5. Orthognathic Surgery (for correction of Acquired / Developmental Facial Deformities)
6. Dental Implants
7. T.M.J. Ankylosis and other Joint ailments
8. Cleft lip

FUTURE PLANS :

Craniofacial Implants Endoscopic management of facial fractures / pathologies. Other then wide variety of clinical work, the department puts a strong emphasis on didactic activities, through routine lectures, seminars and journal club where active exchange of research based knowledge is carried out.
