Course programme

The Department of Architecture, established in the year 1993, flourished under the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology. It is situated in a peaceful and calm environment. The department is run as per the guidelines of the Council of Architecture & AICTE and aims to develop a great seat of learning for young Architects with high intellectual qualities to meet the challenges of the changing scenario of the world. The department is committed to maintain high standards of discipline and achieve high academic standard & excellence. The department has 2 but inter related focuses: firstly the traditional energy conservation techniques in old building of Islamic era architecture as well as other construction technologies embedded in them; secondly the use of above techniques as well as latest technology in constructing ? intelligent buildings.

The department runs a five-year degree course, having four and a half year campus work and six months professional training, with an intake of 20 students per year. The first batch stepped into the world of professionals in the year 1998 and was placed successfully at various architectural firms and organizations. The students have shown an outstanding performance in the National level examinations as GATE and hence pursuing higher education from reputed institutes like IIT?s and School of Planning & Architecture etc.

Various Labs as per the requirements of the architecture course curriculum have been developed such as CADD lab/MODROBS lab, Model workshop etc whereas some of them are in the process of development as Materials Museum and Construction & Materials Lab etc.

The Department has a Seminar having a good collection of 1100 books, for the purpose of consultation, in addition to the main library of the University.
