The goal of the course is to acquire the Japanese language for communicative purposes both orally and in writing at an elementary level which includes Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Students are given a balanced course of speaking, listening, reading and writing throughout the course period as well as an introduction to Japanese culture which is also an essential part of language learning.
Students are also expected to acquire proficiency in Japanese that will be good enough to pass level 4 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
Two hours of class room instruction for a period of 50days which would be 100 hours at the end of the course supported by a reasonable amount of tutorials and homework .
