Certificate Course in Legal Literacy (with NLSIU)
Christ University in association with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) offers a hundred-hour certificate course named Legal Literacy. The Programme is organised and co-ordinated by the Department of Political Science at Christ University.
The course covers variety of legal aspects that a common man is supposed to be aware as a citizen. The hundred hours course covers areas such as Constitutional Law, Family Law (marriage, adoption, inheritance, divorces etc.), Criminal Law, Patent Law, Labour Law, Employment Law, Environment Law, Medical Law, and Ethics, Human Rights etc. The Course also comprises of field visits to central jail, court and police station, as a part of its curriculum.
The classes are conducted on Saturdays and public holidays between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. The classes are conducted by eminent professors from NLSIU and Christ University.
The goal and aim of this course is to bring awareness among the students on the basic legal aspects which are unknown mysteries to them, but necessary to know, inorder to become awakened members of the nation - to think, act and react.
At the end of the course, a test is conducted and the students are awarded certificates with grades.
