Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education was established in the year 1957 with a sole purpose of producing quality teachers in the field of Physical Education. During that time, the duration of training in Physical Education used to be of one-year but under the able stewardship of Padam Shri Dr. P. M. Joseph, the Institute started offering three-year programme of Bachelor of Physical Education after higher secondary. In 1963, the Institute covered yet another mile stone by offering two years Master of Physical Education.
All the youth activities like Sports, Literary, Cultural, Adventure; NCC, Camps, NSS etc. are being looked after by this Department This Dept. also organizes Observation of Special Occasions.
