-Why this programme

In this era of globalisation, Indian organisations are going through a major change over. It is proving to be a challenging task to keep pace with a business environment which has place only for the most agile of the organisations. With the increasing use of IT within organisations and simultaneously increased information availability, decision making in organisations has become more complex. Only the organisations that can effectively manage and leverage the knowledge and information within and without will be able to compete and succeed in today's demanding environment.

Companies all over the world have recognised the importance of Knowledge Management over the past two decades, and are trying to implement KM-initiatives to achieve competitive excellence. However, since Knowledge Management is still in the developmental phase not many sure to succeed formulae have emerged so far. Results of implementation of KM initiatives have been mixed. Therefore, it becomes all the more crucial for any organisation in the process of implementing Knowledge Management strategies to familiarise itself with the issues involved in KM implementation. There is a great opportunity to learn from the experiences of organisations that have already tried their hand in KM implementation.

Thus, in this program, we focus on understanding the concepts and learning from the experiences. Since Knowledge Management is primarily about sharing the inherent knowledge present in each individual and creating a pool of knowledge that can be leveraged for the benefit of the organisations, we encourage the participants to share their experiences and insights to enrich the entire group's knowledge base.
