The Centre for the Study of Social Systems has been selected by the UGC for induction and support under CAS Programme. It sanctioned a grant of Rs.59.50 lakhs (Rs.28 lakhs for non-recurring expenditure and Rs. 31.50 lakhs for recurring expenses for five year to strengthen the infrastructure and other aspects of our Centre.
Grants under the CAS Programme are earmarked for the a) Equipments-Multimedia Lab, b) Building, c) Reprographic facilities, d) Contingency, e) Travel/Field Facilities/field trips, f) Seminar/Conferences/Workshops, g) Visiting Fellows, h) Books & Journals, i) Hiring charges, and j) Advisory Committee Meeting.
Grants are available for field work by faculty members of the Centre in the following thrust areas:
1. Economy, Society and Culture in the Era of Globalization
2. Ethnicity, Caste, Identity and Social Movements
3. Sociology of Knowledge, including indigenous knowledge and Indian social thought.
4. Sociology of science and technology including information and communication.
The CAS Programme has financed seminars and extended financial assistance to faculty members for different academic activities including organising of seminar/conferences, field work and preparation of manuscripts.
