Students are introduced to the exploration of ways that animation can complement experiences in various disciplines that develops student's design process through the construction of digital 3D models and animation. Design studio that develops a student's idea of digital 3D modeling as functional to animation and special effects. The basics of character design with a rigorous emphasis on concept development, appeal, construction, extent, turn around, style, posing, attitude and expression models and the development of basic drawing skills. A comprehensive study in the basic principles of animation and the application of those principles in bringing a character to life through the mechanics of motion. Areas of focus include squash and stretch, overlapping action, volume consistency, rhythms, lines of action and timing with a strong emphasis on basic drawing. The course continues with studies in acting, personality exposition and visual narratives.
