Course programme

This course takes the student through the process of digital animation using Maya. The course will concentrate more on the technical and conceptual aspects of production of 3D animations rather than the design aspects. The course will also give the basics of digital sculpting using Z-brush and 3D compositing using combustion.

The total duration of the course is 9 months.

Semester -I

The students will be given a basic introduction to modeling, texturing, rigging and animation in the Maya environment. They will be exposed to the basic tools and techniques typically used in the process.


The next four months the students will be taken to the advanced levels of modelling, texturing, rigging and character animation. They will be trained in the basic concepts and tools of digital sculpting and 3D compositing using Z-Brush and Combustion respectively.


The last 2 months the students will work on creating a short film in 3D (Maya) for which the pre production will be done by the faculty. The students will be required to perform the tasks of production.


At the end of the course the students come out with:

1) A Diploma in Animation Film Making
2) A professional demo reel and portfolio.
3) Proven proficiency in the process of animation film making.
4) An understanding of the business of animation.
