Syllabus:
1st Year:
Pharmaceutical chemistry-I mainly deals with a large number of inorganic compounds are used by pharmacists for therapeutic applications as well as pharmaceutical aids. Therefore, it is necessary to learn about their chemistry. This subject however, is not restricted to inorganic chemicals alone. Other topics like radio pharmaceuticals, importance of pharmacopoeia, importance of quality control, acids, bases buffers and limits tests and such others are also covered. The student learns about the basics of a good number of topical agents i.e., those which are meant for external application
2nd Year:
Pharmaceutical chemistry-II deals with the compounds of both synthetic and natural origin, useful as medicinal agents. Each chapter deals with the history, development of particular class of drugs, their classification, mechanism of action, structure, chemical use, storage, preparation and brand names of individual drugs.
The subject not only emphasizes on uses of the various drugs available in the market but also provides the student the necessary knowledge required for further improvement of his/her quest and urge to know more about the new drugs introduced in the market.
