The course supports the Under-graduate students studying in any branch of Music, Dance or Visual Arts as their major subjects. The department is also engaged in inter-disciplinary researches. University is well known for interdisciplinary researches. This could be possible because of availability of scholars from different genres of arts and Fine arts, including various literatures- Hindi, Sanskrit, and English. To the best of my knowledge the Faculty of Art has done wonderful work in this area. There are a number of research scholars who are working (have worked) on varied topics relating to painting and literature, Dance and literature, Literature and folk art etc. I. K. S. University is the only institute of music and fine arts that has country wide affiliation. The unique feature of this university is also marked in the arena of research in music and other related arts. Any scholar from any part of country can get registered under any guide on any topic subject to the approval of the Academic council of the university. University provides facilities for short researches as well. Any scholar from any part of world can come and stay in the university campus for a short period to complete short research, project. A number of scholars from many countries have made use of this facility. University has done a remarkable job in the field of publication as well. Though university does not have its publication unit, it has published three or four priceless treatises on music. Some ancient manuscripts are being assessed for further work on them. University is the Mecca of Indian music. The great artists of our time feel honored to be in the campus of the University. You name the artist; University has some material on him or her. The oldest classical recitals are kept in the listening room with utmost care. Students of music, musicians, musicologists, art critics and music promoters make their presence in the campus to acquaint the latest and the best in Indian classical music, Indian classical Dance, visual arts and literature.
This course is known for advance studies in English literature thriough inter-disciplinary research at Ph.D. and D.Litt. level. Prof. (Dr.) I.D. Tiwari is working as Head of the Department of English. His area of interest is Indian Writing in English, British Literature and American Literature. Dr. Manoj Kumar is also working as Lecturer in the Deptt. of English. His area of interest is Indo-Canadian Literature, Indian Writing in English and Indian Sanskrit Poetics. The department organizes seminars on various inter-disciplinary topics. Recently the department organized two seminars. The title of the first seminar was "Marginalized Characters in the plays of Kalidas, Shakespeare and Jay Shankar Prasad." The second seminar entitled "Oral Traditions of the Tribesman of Chhattisgarh & the First Nation (Tribesman) of Canada."
