Hemendra (hemzi) Nath

Hemendra (hemzi) Nath

Drum Instructor

Another founding member of ArtTree and a seasoned musician, especially in the drums and bass arena, with a pedigree that goes back to the days when outfits like Olio and The Rock Opera, and Rock Machine (now Indus Creed) were in season, Hemzi has been around, and stuck through the thick and thin of rock music in India. Times, they may have changed; our man has weathered them all. A well known and respected figure on the current musical landscape, you might bump into him just about anyplace with a pulse that can be measured in time signatures. He has been an integral part of bands like Olio & the Rock Opera, and is the founding member of Asphyxia and Maskitoes. Along with his bands, he trounced the music scene by winning prestigious rock competitions like IIT‐Kanpur, IIT‐Delhi, IIT‐Bombay (Powai), IIT‐Chennai, and BITS‐Pilani to name a few. Not one to be away from the action even when not playing, he has been part of the panel, and judged competitions like IIT‐Delhi's Blitzkrieg (three years) and IIT‐K's Antaragni. Hemzi is currently a part of the much talked about Soul rock band from Delhi – ‘Menwhopause’. The band toured USA last year and are about to release their new album in association with Virgin Records.

Course programme

Drums are the world's oldest and most ubiquitous musical

instruments, and the basic design has remained virtually unchanged

for thousands of years. The drum is a member of the percussion group

of music instruments, technically classified as a membranophone.

Drums consist of at least one membrane, called a drumhead or drum

skin, that is stretched over a shell and struck, either directly with parts

of a player's body, or with some sort of implement such as a

drumstick, to produce sound. Other techniques have been used to

cause drums to make sound, such as the "Thumb roll". Most drums

are considered "untuned instruments", however many modern

musicians are beginning to tune drums to songs

Why learn Drums in Art tree?

Our module provides individual classes which help the students get an

in‐depth insight into the instrument meanwhile developing their skills

at their own pace. The academy holds regular workshops and concerts

which will enable them to gain more experience, provide a stage to

showcase their skills as well as give them the much required

confidence. They are also trained to appear grade exams, which are

held in the school itself, conducted by examiners from Trinity Guildhall

London / Rockschool London. Art tree aims in providing a place where

those into music can get a fresher outlook towards it.

ArtTree teaching methodology

Our faculty is experienced in the industry and provides highly

personalized instructions which leads to new approaches to music

teaching and learning and integrate them with traditional practices in

a contemporary context to inspire, broaden, and connect the musical

passions of our students in a rapidly evolving world.

ArtTree presents a comprehensive curriculum that bridges the

performing and musical arts to provide a powerful foundation of

professional skills, knowledge, and critical thinking that inspires and

enables students to realize and sustain a life in music.
