The research cell at K. K. College of Education , ‘Shodh Sadhana' was started with the objective of providing a platform for research work to educationists and those interested in the field of education, to contribute to their need for professional growth and self-actualization and development of the society.

The institution also plans to work on collaborative research projects with other institutions , aimed at pooling of resources and expertise. To view list of researches undertaken by the institution.

The very first and pioneering offshoot of Sadhana Education Society in July 1962 was 'The Sadhana School of Educational Research and Training'. In 1970, it was renamed as 'The Sadhana School of Education'. The college was once again renamed to 'Smt. Kapila Khandvala College of Education' in 1972. This was done to honor and commemorate the memory of Smt. Kapila Khandvala, a pivotal personality and the guiding spirit who generated growth and expansion in all its permissible magnitude.

Presently, the college is taking new strides under the leadership of Principal, Dr. Vandana Maheshwari. She joined this institution in 1988 in the position of Lecturer in Education. She was the senior most staff member of the college and has been leading the institution since November, 2006. Dr. Maheshwari believes in continuous innovations to keep pace with the changing scenario in the world of education. Her enthusiasm and zest for excellence is emulated by the staff and students of the college.

The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It conducts courses leading to the B. Ed. and Ph.D. The college is also University of Mumbai centre for M. A in Education. It is also Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) centre for M. Phil.

It is a Gujarati Linguistic Minority College. It has recognition from NCTE {National Council of Teacher Education). The University of Mumbai has placed the college in category 'A' which means academically and administratively sound institution. The college has been accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC.
