Why study BSc European Nursing (Adult) at Middlesex University?

This exciting nursing route involves spending seven months with one of our partner institutions in Malta, Finland, Italy or Denmark where you will learn how different health services work and compare this to the operations of the National Health Service in Britain. You will learn a range of essential nursing skills and techniques to effectively care for adult patients in a variety of healthcare environments and develop critical and analytical skills through exploring the philosophical basis of nursing practice.

We are seeking students with the right acumen for this highly competitive course; who can demonstrate excellent communication skills and show care, compassion, courage and commitment to a nursing career, who want to expand their horizons and work in a new country.

Requirements: Interviews, entrance tests, portfolios and auditions If your application is successfully shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a maths and English test at either Royal Free or Hendon University's campus. These tests are compulsory even if you meet our Maths and English GCSE application requirements If you pass these tests, you will be invited to attend an interview If you are successful at interview, you will then be offered a place on the course subject to academic, health and DBS requirements.

Course programme

You will learn a range of essential nursing skills and techniques to effectively care for adult patients in a variety of healthcare environments. Problem solving and making critical decisions will become second nature, and you will become confident working collaboratively in teams; ensuring you are able to assess, plan and implement adult care effectively. You will gain a detailed understanding of the ongoing development of nursing as a profession and be confident in contributing to the debate about its future.

Through taking this nursing route you will gain greater understanding of pan European health problems, particularly related to deployment of health personnel and trends in health and social care. We encourage collaboration and exchange of ideas in terms of clinical and educational research, to inform your studies and wider career development.

You will spend seven months studying and learning at a partner university in another European country (subject to availability): Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Pori, Finland), University of Firenze (Florence, Italy), University of Malta (Malta) and University College Lillabaelt (Odense, Denmark); and on return you will complete their dissertation module and final 12 week sign off period of practice in London.

You will become an independent, self motivated practitioner, able to reflect on your practice and adopt a critical and analytical approach to the care of adult patients.
