The Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu (GCET) was established in the year 1994 under All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) norms vide Notification No.F-18-1/93-AICTE/910 dated: April 30, 1993 and is affiliated to University of Jammu, Jammu. The inauguration of the college was done by the then His Excellency, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, General K.V.Krishna Rao on 5th October, 1994 at Old University Campus, Canal Road, Jammu. This was the first Institute of its kind in Jammu region.
