Course programme
Three stage program:
1. General guidance and selection of universities
* Aptitude evaluation interviews and discussions for selection of an appropriate course and area of specialization
* Sessions on understanding the US educational system
* Selection of universities on the basis of financial aid opportunities, job opportunities, KIC alumni feedback, research interests, rankings, etc
2. Guidance for application preparation and financial aid
* Sessions on understanding how the admission process works
* Assistance in preparation of recommendation letters and essays (SOP's)
* Assistance in preparation of other relevant academic and financial documents
* Assistance in completing financial aid applications
* Thorough counselling for assistantships and other financial aid
* Special guidance for maximizing aid opportunities
3. Visa Counselling and pre-departure program
* Interaction with parents (sponsors) for financial planning
* Guidance for preparation of financial and academic documents
* Intensive training for the visa interview - upto 8 rounds of mock interviews
* Special emphasis on psychological preparation for the visa
* Pre-departure seminars to ensure a smooth transition to a US university
Important note:
The objective of the counselling service is to provide all the help for a student and his / her family till he / she arrives at a US university. The service is offered for students looking to pursue higher education in Engineering, Medicine, Architecture, Para-medical fields (Public Health, Pharmacology, Hospital administration, etc.), Natural sciences and Physiotherapy among others.
Registration procedure for the KIC - Counselling program:
The registration has to be completed at any KIC Center. To enroll for the program you need to complete the following formalities:
1. Fill up a registration form and questionnaire (provided at the KICCenter)
2. Appear for a 20 minute interview with Prof. Ganesh Kohli
3. Submit 5 passport size photographs
4. Submit copies of all academic records from 10th grade onwards
5. Pay the fees either by cheque or cash (cheques are made payable to "KIC")
