The Department of International Business and Finance Control offers two streams of postgraduate courses: Master of Commerce (International Business) and Master of Commerce (Finance and Control). The Undergraduate students who join the programmes are oriented towards either of the two different streams they opt for. Then they undergo a proficiency test (Entry Behavior Test) in the area chosen. The proficiency test is used for monitoring the regular improvement the student. The test is followed by a five day residential personality development programme "Turning Point". This programme prepares the students to commit themselves for a serious career preparation at the college. The Classroom lectures are enriched with case studies, group discussions, and role plays, peer teaching, quiz questions and power point presentations. The students are given ample opportunity to organize and present serious learning sessions called Commerce Forum' where they present the current issues of their respective fields of study. The department enjoys rich industry - institution interaction and regularly organizes guest lectures by executives from the fields International Business and Finance. Every batch of students make a visit to RBI - Banker's Training College, World trade Centre, Securities Exchange Board of India, Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, Cochin Port, Marmagoa Port, etc, An intercollegiate event FIBAT and FIBEX enables students to improve their knowledge base and their team work abilities. The department's quarterly magazine 'FIB-Quest' enables students to prepare scholarly articles and research papers. The Students of International Business are offered Japanese language as a compulsory course and Finance students are offered the optional module offered by NCFM. The Department has an excellent placement record with our alumni occupying significant positions in firms like Maersk, P&O Ned Loyd, Expeditors International, Glo Shipping, Omega logistics, CMA -CGM, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Motilal Oswal, GeojitSecurities, United Bank, Ford, South Indian Bank etc. Our alumni have found it easy to find good placements abroad, especially in the MiddleEast, apart from the United State of America and the United Kingdom .
