Course programme

The Department of Hifzane Sehat wa Samaji Tib is a part of Faculty of Unani medicine, Aligarh Muslim University. This department is imparting health education at the graduate and undergraduate levels. From the day of his dawn i.e. 99 the department, on the academic platform, has endorsed 12 research scholars to whom M.D in Hifzan -e- Sehat degree has been awarded. At present three research scholars are enthusiastically pursuing in their research work. The department of Hifzane Sehat also imparts training to the Interns in relation to the routine immunization, field surveys, data collection and statistical analysis.

The department is working from the year of its establishment in collaboration with District Health Administration to foster public and community health. The department of Hifzan -e- Sehat devotedly participated in the Pulse Polio Immunization campaigns, Leprosy Eradication Campaigns, Hepatitis B Immunization Programmes and several other community health programmes at local as well as at district levels. In the past the department has organized Symposia, National and International Seminars.

Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib section of the department is covering the subject of Nutrition, Epidemiology, Multidimensional aspects of Pollutions, Environmental Studies, Communicable & Non Communicable Diseases, Demography, Maternal Health, Family Planning and Neonatal Care to the Geriatrics. The related section of the Museum is equipped with all type of health & fitness related sophisticated items including digital body fat analyzer and tread mill, all type of water filters, water and air pollution analyzing kits, well defined mounted charts, 3D charts, flip charts, vaccination kits, working and non working model. Beginners level to the advanced level of projectors.

This department also envisages the Section of Tibbe Qanoon wa Ilmul Samoom (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology) which is covering illustrative knowledge on the subject of Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Entomology, thantlogy, dactylography, asphyxial deaths, Mechanical injuries, Firearm injuries and Toxicology. This department is also imparting the advance and latest knowledge of Forensic Medicine at UG level. The Forensic Medicine Section of the department Museum has a huge collection of Digital charts, 3D models, human skeleton, animal and plant origin poisons, specimens of different verities of snakes, scorpions, lizards and poisonous bees, dummies of weapons.

The department is also maintaining full fledged Seminar library having a collections of about 300 books including the rare books on the subject of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib. Audio visual facilities for the purpose of teaching & presentations at the PG levels and for the trainings of Interns are also available for weekly seminar.

The department has put forward the proposals of certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses in health sciences. These proposals after an overwhelming response by the Faculty of Unani Medicine are now under consideration of Academic Council of the University for the recommendation. These courses would provide tools to the students to understand health and illness both as lived realities and as reflections of larger social processes, on a scale ranging from the interpersonal to the global health.
