The study of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the outset involves the study of nature of the disease and its course, progression and adverse impact on the morphology and normal functioning of human body. As such, oral pathology occupies a unique position in the health care community for both the dental and medical professions. Naturally, members of the dental profession must have good knowledge of the pathogenesis, clinical features, treatment and prognosis of oral and perioral diseases.
