It Encompasses a variety of disciplines techniques, procedures and skills that logically share a common basis with other specialties.

Pediatric dentistry concentrates on the integration of appropriate varieties of clinical knowledge from various specialties into a frame work of quality oral health care for children.
Pediatric dentistry is an age specific and not a technique specific specialty. Hence it encompasses all aspects of dentistry including some aspects of other specialties. Role of pediatric dentist changes as the child enters adolescence. Recongnising the growing importance of appearance and self-image in their parents, pediatric dentists work to ensure that adolescents dental needs are met.
Pediatric dentistry also serves as an educational resource for parents.
