The Panineeya Mahavidyalaya Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Centre offers M.D.S. Periodontics course to its students.

The branch of dentistry concerned with prevention and treatment of gum diseases.

The motto is to attain a successful periodontal therapy, by implementing the vital services. The department is mainly concerned with the

i) evaluation of the patient and his emotional needs regarding the treatment.

ii) patient motivation regarding causes for the periodontal problems and treatment.

iii) to provide good patient education through booklets on periodontal diseases and demonstration with the help of models.

Various periodontal diseases are treated with modern methods such as Bone grafting, GTR, Growth factors and Local drug delivery systems for the longevity of the teeth and investing structures.

Esthetic enhancement treatments such as Root coverage procedures, Depigmentation of gums, and Dental implants are the present day protocols.
