Welding and other fabrication techniques and their classification, physics of welding arc, Arc characteristics, effect of shielding gas on arc, arc blow. Mechanism and type of metal transfer in various arc welding processes, welding power sources and their static and dynamic characteristics. Welding processes. TIG, MIG, MMAW, CO2 Welding, SAW, resistance, friction, diffusion, ultrasonic, plasma arc, electron beam and Laser Welding processes. Heat flow in welding, residual stress measurement, distortion prevention, welding and weldability of non-ferrous metals and alloys, weld design.
