The Guru Nanak Dev University's Faculty of Visual Arts and Performing Arts offers M.A. History of Arts to its students. The course structure for it is as follows:
PART-I
Paper-I : Aesthetics
Paper-II : History of Indian Paintings (from the earliest times to 1800 A.D.)
Paper-III : History of Indian Sculpture (from the earliest time to 1800 A.D.)
Paper-IV (Opt. i) : Any one of the following :-
History of Indian Architecture
(from the earliest times to 1800 A.D.)
(Opt. ii) : Principles of Art Appreciation
PART-II
Paper I : History of European Art (classical early and Medieval Christian) upto A.D. 1500
Paper II : History of European Art (from A.D. 1500 to A.D. 1850).
Paper III: Any one of the following:
Option (i) History of the Art of the Ancient orient. (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Assyria, Central Asia)
Option (ii) History of the Art of Iran, China and Japan
Option (iii) The Art of Indian Asia (excluding India)
Paper IV: History of Modern Movements in Art in Europe,
the U.S. and India
