The thrust of the M.A. programme is on developing a critical acumen with regard to a significant variety of philosophical problems, notions and systems The students are required to do eight compulsory courses spread into four semesters. Besides the compulsory courses, students have to opt for eight optional courses, two each in a Semester. The department offers a wide range of optional courses in various traditions of philosophizing such as Indian, Anglo-Saxon and Continental. Some of the optional courses have an interdisciplinary approach and also impart computational skills and statistical techniques. Many of the courses are based on literature appearing in national and international journals which are made available to the students. For the Doctoral Programme, the candidates without M.Phil degree are required to undergo one semester course work
