Introduction

M.Sc Nursing course was started with the objective to encourage creative and concerted efforts by nurses in various clinical practices and to identify actual or potential health care problems as well as to plan and initiate individualized nursing care to the patients. The goal of M.Sc. Nursing program is to prepare nurses who are able to function efficiently and effectively, as a member of health care team and who are qualified to meet the nursing needs of the people in the society. The nurse is competent to practice in the home, hospital outpatient clinic, work place, school and community. The program provides a basis for further development and continued learning of the graduate.
Course Information
This is a 2-year degree program offered at College of Nursing, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, which prepares the student to practice across all health care settings. The course of study combines the theory and the practice of nursing, with general education in the humanities and behavioral, biological, and physical sciences. Specialization allows students to build a specialized area of Knowledge and practice that extends beyond the Advanced Nursing Care. It offers areas of specializations in Medical Surgical Nursing and Community Health Nursing. The program is supported with specialist teaching facilities and nursing laboratory equipped with latest technology. The M.Sc. Nursing program offers students experience in major settings where health care is delivered The subjects covered during the course include, Nursing Education, Advanced Nursing Practice, Nursing research & Statistics, Nursing Management & Clinical Specialty and Dissertation. These serve as a core for the development of the nursing major.
Assessment
The students are assessed based on the clinical training, assignments, seminars, presentations, conducting conferences, workshop, internal examinations and the term end examinations
