Course programme

The Department of Post Harvest Technology was carved out in 1987 from the erstwhile Department of Pomology and Fruit Technology after the establishment of Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry to meet the ever-growing demand of developing appropriate technologies for post harvest management and agro-food processing.
Teaching, research and extension education activities in different aspects of post harvest technology are the major functions of this department. The department is equipped with FPO licensed Fruit Processing Unit for pilot scale testing of technologies, providing in-plant training and imparting community canning service. Besides, the department is also engaged in developing specific technologies for various outside donor agencies. The department has plans to expand its activities with stronger interaction with entrepreneurs, industrialists and farmers for technology transfer and undertaking need based research.
