M.Sc. Tech. (Industrial Mathematics)

This course conforms to UGC Model Curriculum Mathematics - 2001. It opens up employment opportunities in industry for Mathematics graduates. Additionally, the UGC has recognized that a person holding M.Sc. Tech. (Industrial Mathematics and Computer Applications) degree will get preference over M.A./M.Sc.(Mathematics) degree holders in appointments to teaching and research positions.

The curriculum is designed to provide an in-depth exposure to mathematical analysis, modeling, and reasoning with high exposure to computer-based techniques. As a result, students shall become adept at exploiting mathematical libraries for improved productivity and develop the ability to concentrate on core issues in problem solving rather than do the routine drudgery of performing calculations. The curriculum has been designed to provide students a range of computer-based skills for industrial use. Three specialization streams are provided, Computer Applications, Business Applications, and Applied Mathematics with Statistics. Students choose subjects from these, based on their interest and aptitude under guidance from faculty.
